OUR HISTORY

"We Stock the Parts"

What a busy place! In 1971, Jim and Beryl Lumsdaine started the House of Service. In 1983, Jim’s son Ed Lumsdaine became a partner and has purchased the business. Their excellent service reputation prompted the well-known phrase 'The House that Service Built'. In this shop you will find service that is difficult to find anywhere else: If you need a fuse for your stove, it’s 'on the house'. If you would like to have your Microwave oven tested for power leakage, just bring it in and have it tested for free. Now that’s service.

'Ole Lonely' fixing the stove.Open 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, the staff service your fridge or freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, compactor, washer and dryer, oven, barbecue, and even your hot water tank. In the shop is a wide variety of quality-reconditioned appliances for sale, most with a one year warranty. (All stove elements have a 2-year warranty)
If you want to rent or lease appliances, domestic or commercial, they are available by the month or the year. Check out our selection of coin-operated washers and dryers.

Another well stocked van to serve you better. House of Service serves the Alberni Valley, Bamfield, Ucluelet and Tofino, striving for ‘same day service’. When you call, you get quality action. All the technicians are well trained and attend factory seminars to stay on top of the new features and designs.

House of Service has been voted #1 Appliance Repair Store in Port Alberni for the year 2000. House of Service also does warranty work for Jowseys, Sears, Future Shop, The Brick, McDonald Supply, and Coast Wholesale.

Customer Service is what it's all about. Maytag has congratulated us on our achievement of 99% - 100% customer satisfaction on their recent Service Quality Assessment. With hard work we intend to maintain our record of excellence.

This business has been able to weather the economic storms because of it’s loyal customer support and a positive attitude. Many appliance repair shops have come and gone as House of Service slowly grew and expanded their business over the years. Recently the shop on First Avenue was renovated, making a brighter more open show floor. And check out the 'barbeque wall'.

Ed working on a fridge A proud supporter of community events, this well established business is pleased to donate the 'beer fridge' or other quality appliance each year to be auctioned off at the Chamber of Commerce Fantasy Auction.
